Deputies responded to a 9:08 p.m. call from Melissa Ramgren, who had been vacationing in a condo at Fisherman’s Cove on south Siesta Key, reporting that her 16-year-old son had allegedly stabbed her and his 14-year-old brother.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, a MA teen has been arrested for attempted murder after he stabbed two family members while on vacation at Siesta Key late Wednesday evening.

The teen has been identified as Gust Ramgren.

“He confirmed that the three of them were vacationing from MA and had been having a good time”, deputies wrote in a probable cause affidavit.

Officials say soon after he fled, a nearby resident called 911 saying that Gust was in their yard asking for help.

When deputies arrived, they found the teen’s mother and 14-year-old brother with stab wounds.

He was located and arrested a short time later.

Back at the crime scene, the younger brother told deputies who administered first aid that he was afraid he was going to die, “and asked why his brother would do this”, according to the report.

Melissa was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for serious injuries and 14-year-old Charles was flown to All Children’s Hospital.

Both victims remain in the hospital in critical condition, but are expected to survive, according to police.
