Burnley are also looking to return to the top flight, having been relegated last term.
Burnley spurned a golden opportunity to nick the points when Vokes spooned Boyd’s pass over the bar from inside the area as Sean Dyche’s men stood up to Derby’s late pressure, moving third in the table on a frustrating evening for the home side.
“They have a very good young, up-and-coming manager (Paul Clement), they’ve spent £20m, and we’ve had a go ourselves, by the way, spending half of that”.
Derby could sense a breakthrough might be on the cards but as they increased the pressure on Burnley the game became stretched and the visitors started creating chances with previously unseen regularity. They are a very good side and there are a lot of good things going here.
Derby pressed hard for a victor in Monday’s encounter but could not find a way through a solid Burnley back line.
Chances didn’t exactly increase for either side in the second half either but there were certainly more, in particular as the half went on with Keogh heading over for Derby as Vokes tried his luck from distance but this was a straightforward save for former England worldwide Carson.
“Our defensive display from the back five was absolutely outstanding”.
“We couldn’t attack as much as we’d liked”.
