Derrick Rose Called His Knicks One Of The NBA’s ‘Super Teams’

The Golden State Warriors have proved they’re a super team by winning an National Basketball Association championship, losing in seven games in another one, while sporting a 140-24 regular season record over the last two seasons. The Knicks finished well below. The surplus in the salary cap was then utilized to signing in center Joakim Noah for a $72-million four-year contract, another four-year contract with shooting guard Courtney Lee ($48 million) and point guard Brandon Jennings for one-year contract of $5 million. But somehow Rose has a media filter on that only sends positive vibes his way, and believes people are putting the Knicks in the same breath as the Warriors.

“The expectations I think of us, we just want to win”, Rose said. Derrick Rose, recently traded to NY via Chicago, was in Las Vegas this week to promote the launch of his latest signature shoe: The “D Rose 7s”. I’ve got to show why I’m there.

There are no shortage of combustible elements on the Knicks’ roster, but this team could be special if it manages to remain healthy. Joakim has to show why he’s there. “So who knows? All I have to do is make sure my catch-and-shoot is pretty good with this team, and like I said, be prepared”. Knicks fans certainly hope the new roster plays like a superteam in the upcoming season. New York City is indeed a pressure cooker, and anything less than a postseason berth in 2016-17 would definitely be disappointing for the rebuilt Knicks. Kristaps Porzingis will be a year older and wiser, and NY will finally have a sense of schematic stability given Phil Jackson’s confidence in Hornacek’s offensive ethos. But for Rose to compare his new team to the Warriors – or any other proverbial super team, for that matter – is something close to laughable.
