Derrick Rose: Knicks and Warriors are the superteams

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose has high expectations for his new team. The Knicks finished well below. You’ve got Brandon [Jennings]who just signed for one year, he’s got to show why he’s there.

Whether the Knicks can translate an active summer into on-court success will heavily depend on if Rose can stay healthy and return to form. Since Durant joined Golden State, there has been an arguably annoying amount of discussion about super teams and whether they are good for the National Basketball Association.

Plus, I think D-Rose might have left off a few teams that could be considered super teams, such as last year’s champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the San Antonio Spurs, at the very least. Knicks fans certainly hope the new roster plays like a superteam in the upcoming season. “When you’ve got a group like that, it’s like, alright, I know everybody wants to do that, but we’re going to break this down as simple as possible, and try to win every game”. Golden State possesses four of the top 15 or so players in basketball; there’s an argument to be made that Durant, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson each make a more positive impact on the game than Carmelo Anthony, too.

In addition to talking expectations for the Knicks, Rose said that he’s looking forward to his opportunity to play in the NY market. Joakim has to show why he’s there.

Rose is also hopeful the team’s triangle offense is going to work perfectly thanks to the way the roster has been constructed, per NBA.com. Let’s check back in when the season is underway to see which teams are super and which need to re-check their egos. That’s probably still not enough to get them anything better than a No. 4/5 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs and definitely doesn’t get them above the super team threshold.
