Even Disney Channel original movies get sequels and after the first Descendants movie became such a hit, it comes as no surprise that a sequel is now in the works.

Descendants follows four children of Disney villains – Maleficent’s daughter Mal (Dove Cameron), Evil Queen’s daughter Evie (Sofia Carson), Jafar’s son Jay (Booboo Stewart) and Cruella de Vil’s son Carlos (Cameron Boyce) – as they decide whether they want to pursue lives of good or evil. “Descendants” is cable television’s fifth highest-rated movie of all-time. The magical DCOM also included other iconic Disney characters like Mulan, Fairy Godmother, Belle and more. In Brazil, it ranked #1 of all cable TV networks among Kids 4-11 and Kids 4-17.
A second novel in the “Descendants” literary universe titled “Return to the Isle of the Lost” was also announced today.
Disney has again partnered with author Melissa de la Cruz, who wrote a prequel novel for the film, on another book in the series.
A “Descendants” mobile game from Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media will launch in November.
Now that Mal and her friends are residents of the United States of Auradon, will we return to the Isle of the Lost in the sequel?
Descendants’ soundtrack took the number one spot on the Billboard 200 upon its release. The Descendants DVD released on July 31 and is the No. 1 TV movie and the third-best-selling TV title on DVD year to date.
