Desert Trip 2016: Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, The Who, and More!

The festival is described in a press release as a “once-in-a-lifetime concert” featuring “six of the world’s most iconic and influential rock and roll artists”. Over one weekend, revelers will have the chance to see The Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Bob Dylan and his band, The Who, Paul McCartney and Neil Young with Promise of the Real.

The Rolling Stones will headline the opening night of Desert Trip, a fall rock festival set for October 7-9 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Coachella.

While artists at festivals usually perform for shorter amounts of time, the acts at Desert Trip will reportedly be performing full-length sets, with two set to perform each evening.

Over the years, both The Rolling Stones and The Who were rumored to be in negotiations to perform at the world-renowned festival, a Coachella Valley tradition turned worldwide phenomenon born in 1999.

The weekend will also feature a food assortment from 40 renowned restaurants “from Los Angeles to NY”.

The long-rumored but just-confirmed fest will take place on the same grounds as Coachella, promoting yucksters from around the internet to dub it “Oldchella” (see our lede; the performers are old). In a deviation from Coachella and Stagecoach, single-day tickets will be available for purchase the next three days.

Well, this morning comes confirmation of the mega rock concert I told you about first back on April 13th.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, each participating Desert Trip act has reportedly been guaranteed a $7 million windfall for playing the show. Also on the bill: Neil Young, an apt fit. Friday night will be the Stones and Dylan; Saturday night, McCartney and Young; and on Sunday, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and The Who.

Goldenvoice, founders of the Coachella music festival, recently announced their next megafest: Desert Trip. Reserved grandstand seating tickets are $999 and $1599 with general admission pit standing room only at $1599 each.
