Design and other details of HTC’s new Google Nexus phones purportedly revealed

While it can not be 100% guaranteed that this what the phones will look like, Android Police has had a very good track record when it comes to rumors and leaks so maybe there is some truth to their claims. We’re still a couple months away from Google unveiling their Nexus devices, but the pieces of the puzzle are slowly starting to come together. The naming might be confusing to many of you when Google could simply call its next-gen Nexus devices as Nexus 6X and Nexus 7P but rumors are more strongly backing the smartphones to be named as the S1 and M1.

Given that it is pretty much a certainty that HTC is creating the next Nexus phone (s), we will say that this device shares no resemblance to the HTC 10.

Now that Google is assuming more control of the Nexus lineup, a tipster has provided some information on what the next Android flagship will look like – and it’s really familiar. Since then, they’ve shared far more detailed reports regarding exactly what we can expect.

Likewise, the Nexus label is out of sight and its stead the device render bears the “G” logo on the back plate, which is easily identifiable with Google.

The current thinking is that this mockup is not one of the devices, but both. The rumors also talk about USB Type C, 32 and 128 GB storage variants, Bluetooth 4.2, rear-mounted fingerprint reader, a rather big 3,450 mAh battery, and bottom-firing speakers.

Moving around to the front of the device, we can see features like the earpiece, front-facing camera, and some sensors.

However, the site also acknowledged that it is “uncertain of the age and finality of particular details received from that source”, and that “the final design of the Nexus phones may differ slightly or perhaps even substantially from what you see here in certain respects”.

We’ll have to wait and see. When it launches later in the year, the phones will be available in a few different colors: silver, black, and “electric blue”. Buyers will just be able to choose which screen size works for them, without having to sacrifice on specs to get the smaller 5-inch model.

As for the release date, Google has been keeping a tight lid on it, but it is expected to come in August since Android Nougat is set to conclude its beta testing by the end of July.
