Deputy Brian Bussell could not resist the sight of Gray and her two children on the streets, so he made a decision to help them out of his own initiative. Utilizing cash out he could call his own pocket, the agent put Gray and her children up in an Oxford inn for 10 days, and took the family shopping at a close-by Walmart, purchasing them attire, shoes and nourishment.

“He told me that he was going to help and that we were going to get everything we need taken care of, and I just cried,” said Gray to WLWT.

Bussell also told Gray he was going to help her family get back up on their feet.

Last year, a group of St. Paul police officers in Minnesota, pooled together money to fund a hotel room for Kim Washington, homeless woman, and her three children and two grandchildren. God has blessed us this week and I don’t know what I would have done. “My kids are here sleeping inside of a jail lobby, ‘” she told WLWT News.

When Deputy Brian Bussell heard about the woman’s tragic story, he didn’t think twice about helping. “He’s like a friend to me.”

Bussell and Miranda Sheppard, a dispatch supervisor, called several shelters to try and find a place for the family to stay.

In desperation, they turned to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for help, where they were met with blankets and allowed to stay in the lobby overnight, having only the clothes on their backs.

Even more extraordinary, Bussell did not tell anyone at work of his good deed.

The Gray family is still looking for a more permanent housing situation, but in the meantime, Tierra wants to do everything she can to thank the man who showed she and her sons such kindness.

Jones praised Bussell’s compassionate actions, calling it “a true act of kindness.”

Global News reached out to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for comment but did not receive a response.

“This speaks volumes in light of all the recent negativity people are saying about law enforcement”, said Sheriff Jones. “I am satisfied that he found himself able to bail this family out, I have a best’s percentage workers here”.
