Despite Trump’s Recent Missteps, McConnell Stands By GOP Nominee

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday backed away from repeated remarks labeling President Barack Obama and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton as the founders of Islamic State, saying they were sarcasm.

Many continue backing his candidacy.

But they’re also acting suicidal.

Withhold support and risk alienating GOP voters who may blame establishment turncoats if Trump loses in November.

Supporters who lined up for an evening rally in Altoona say they are confident Trump can prevail, despite the polls. Mike Lee still refuses to endorse Trump.

Trump’s request comes at the same time the Republican nominee officially recognized his path to the White House was unsure. Justin Amash, Bill Huizenga and Fred Upton – have reservations.

Terry Madonna, the polling director at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., said Trump has lost ground in Pennsylvania for the same reasons he has lost support nationally: Questions about his temperament and post-convention flaps that include his sarcastic suggestion that Russian Federation hack Hillary Clinton’s emails and his dispute with the Muslim parents of a slain US soldier. He tweeted after Trump’s national convention speech that he would “always defend liberty against fear-mongering politicians”.

Trump has criticized Clinton’s stamina in recent weeks.

“I’ll just keep doing the same thing I’m doing right now”, he told CNBC on Thursday.

“Believe me, voting for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton is easy for me – easy”, McConnell said.

Democrat Hillary Clinton’s lead over Trump in national polls has widened in recent days, while a growing number of fellow Republicans have declared they won’t support him.

Ward responded by dismissing the poll, claiming instead, “We are winning on the ground”-loserspeak, more or less. If I’m not, it’ll be a guy called Chuck Schumer from NY (as Senate majority leader) who has a very different mindset from myself, and our ability to impact judicial appointments will be considerably diminished if those guys are in the majority as opposed to us”. Trump has said he would “knock the hell out of ISIS”, without offering details, and would persuade Gulf states to bankroll safe zones for Syrian refugees so they would not have to be brought to the United States.

The insult came after the WSJ editorial board said “it wasn’t obvious that” Trump “has any idea what’s in” the Trans-Pacific Partnership after a Republican debate.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton reported that she and former President Clinton made $10.6 million in income a year ago.

Florida’s Senate race is the one dark spot for Democrats, but just as it’s hard to credit those North Carolina numbers, it’s likewise difficult to imagine that Rubio will run 11 points ahead of the ticket, especially since other polls don’t show anywhere near that kind of separation.

Such states are hotly contested because their populations can swing either to Republicans or Democrats and thus play a decisive role in presidential elections.

When asked what he thinks about his party’s leader, McConnell told reporters he was having a “Trump-free day, next question”. A message seeking comment was left with Bergman’s campaign manager.

During the Republican primaries, Trump’s strategy to rely on “earned media” – the fact that he was a celebrity candidate who deluged the airwaves with interviews – worked.
