Numerous new features are included in “Destiny’s” upcoming expansion, known as “Rise of Iron”, and among those additions will be one that can allow even newer players to get up to speed right from the first day the expansion is released.
Additionally, during the downtime, Patch 2.4.0 (expected to be massive) will start pre-downloading automatically.
The new Destiny maintenance period will only affect players on Xbox One and PS4, both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are now considered “Legacy Consoles”. Destiny players will also need to download another small update after servers are back online. Clan tags will not appear on player nameplates until functionality is restored. There’s seriously a lot of changes coming to Destiny’s guns, so I suggest checking out the full list of patch notes if you want to familiarize yourself. Starting September 8th 2016, Players may only acquire one Sterling Treasure per week, through the Level 41 Prison of Elders playlist.

“Destiny” players will be able to try out all the new features included in “Rise of Iron” when the expansion is officially released on September 20.
