Destiny in The Taken King new Quest system
In many ways, these were the earliest tendrils of how we’d come to think about Quests in Destiny. These were adventures that Bungie has correctly identified that players enjoy, so they will become more central to the game with the 2.0 update.

Smith specifically addressed quests in the post, saying developers want to provide players with more experiences similar to the exotic bounty chains, in which you are taken “on a journey through multiple activities-which in the best cases had flashes of unique moments and ended with rewards players cared about”. Quests are an arrangement of activities and challenges that tell a story and represent a journey to the player.
“Like the quest in The Taken King that has you construct your [REDACTED] or when you’ve found [REDACTED REDACTED] and can finish [REDACTED]”. At this point, Destiny has had two pretty meaty expansions added to the core game, both offering new content, missions, quest givers and the like. There’s a high-level overview of the current quests available along with an indicator of what step in the quest line the player is now at.
The big six-player raid that will be offered in The Taken King will be centered around the new boss, which brings his forces to the solar system in order to track and kill the Guardians who took out his son, Crota. The Quest Page will list all of the steps for the Quest, mark which ones are completed and give a description of each step. The Taken King was built with Quests in mind, but we didnt want to ignore the Year One content in this global change, Smith continues. This new quests page will also be the home for player reputation information, which was previously shown on the inventory screen. Visit Bungie.net to see how the new quest menu will look.

The way Quests were implemented into Destiny so far has apparently been a foundation, with Bungie understanding that improvements could be made.
