Detroit Lions — Theo Riddick excels in win over Raiders

No clothes. No shoes.

Theo Riddick was saving the best for last in Sundays 18-13 win over the Oakland Raiders. His worst game as a pro. But it played a significant role. If you’d asked me a couple weeks ago, I’d have said the secondary. “He dropped a couple”, Del Rio said.

“We’re going to go to Chapter 10 (of the season) tomorrow”.

Carr could not pin down the Cooper catch shortage, either.

MARKdown – Derek Carr is on track to become a top tier National Football League quarterback one day.

“We’re still in it. We’ve just got to bounce back”.

This is one decision the Lions have to get right.

The Raiders are without better answers for plenty of stuff right now.

In fairness, competition has something to do with that, as their three home losses have come to teams with combined records of 22-5. Heading into that schedule on the heels of a 4 game losing streak with 2 of those games being the Lions and the Titans would be downright unbearable. It was a potentially happy-happy-scoreboard game. After scoring a touchdown to extend their lead to eight points with 3:58 remaining, the Lions allowed the Packers to find the end zone on their ensuing possession.

The Raiders offense must hate logic. The Oakland Raiders are actually good for a change.

Over his last four games, Carr is averaging 306 passing yards and has thrown for 13 touchdowns against just three interceptions.

“Obviously, you don’t want to give up any points”, said Raiders’ linebacker Ben Heeney.

Get the young stars more experience, fight for the improbable playoff spot anyway, and get these players to have a consistently good effort from both sides of the field before the end of the year.

The Raiders went ahead after their second drive of the third quarter.

Oakland finally got on the board with 10:24 to play in the third on a one-yard touchdown carry from Latavius Murray into the end zone. The defense shut out the Lions. “It just went off and didn’t generate much after that”.

What the heck has gone haywire with the lovable Raiders’ offensive attack? And you know what?

The mysterious No-Cooper strategy explains some of the problem.

Prater’s 41-yarder with 31 seconds left in the opening quarter and his 51-yarder with two seconds left in the half made it 9-0. Detroit would later add a safety for the final score. “So we were able to get their run stopped, and that helps”. The Raiders have also given up 37 pass plays of 20 or more yards. Janikowski nailed a 56-yard field goal to put the Raiders up 13-9. The futility will make for an interesting combo with the Raiders allowing 458 rushing yards in its past two games. It’s possible that Del Rio was not wanting to risk a possible wasted timeout early in the game. Teams are paying more and more attention to him but when hes getting his chances to win against guys he should win against, he does it, ” Stafford said.

“T.A. simplified a lot of things in our game plan, so now we’ve got a system where everyone knows exactly what they are supposed to be doing”, he said.

Carr’s response: “That’s my fault”. The fans saw their team fall to 4-6 after an 18-13 loss.

“I won’t say we necessarily took a few steps back”, said Raiders defensive back TJ Carrie. “I’ll have to watch the film and see why that took place, but that just, whatever that is, it just can’t happen”.

Good suggestion. That would include the man not in the locker stall.
