DETROIT A Detroit woman convicted of killing her two children, whose bodies were discovered in a freezer during an eviction, was sentenced on Friday to life in prison without parole.

Passing sentence, Wayne County Circuit Judge Dana Hathaway told Blair she had created a “house of horrors”, reports the Detroit Free-Press. Blair pleaded guilty Monday to killing two of her children and storing their bodies in a home freezer, telling a judge that she had no remorse for beating and suffocating them.
In August 2012 she had put a plastic bag over Stephen’s head, scalded him with hot water, punched him and had suspended him by his neck with a belt, but did not mean to kill him, she said. She says they had abused a sibling, though she didn’t witness the alleged assaults and never reported anything to police.
Blair said she also threw scalding water on the girl and hit her in the head many times. “But I’m the only one not lying about anything”.
“As a mother, one of your primary responsibilities was to protect your kids”. “As horrendous as everybody think I am that’s fine”. “You failed them”.
While Blair blamed the fathers of her children, defense attorney Wyatt Harris chose to blame Blair’s upbringing, claiming she was abused as a child, was uneducated, and then went on to have her own children.
Mitchelle Blair, 36, was allowed to address the Wayne County courtroom and displayed the same anger she has previously shown since her arrest in March in the horrific case.
Dorsey, who had submitted a letter to the judge that had been read to Blair, had to be escorted from the court after making a “disrespectful” remark.
In a separate case, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services wants to terminate parental right to the Blair and the fathers of the living children.
Friends and neighbors said they didn’t know there was trouble in the home and rarely saw Blair’s four children.
