Prosecutors say 28-year-old Charles Lynem and 31-year-old Chancellor Searcy were arraigned Tuesday.

Two Detroit police officers, who were honored past year with local and national law enforcement awards, were arrested Tuesday and charged with embezzlement, larceny and filing a false felony report, following an eight-month investigation. Also, both were charged with misconduct in office.
The Detroit Police Department will hold a 1:30 p.m. press conference.
“It is alleged that there was a wrongful conduct surrounding the detention, frisk, seizure of property and the arrest of the suspect”, the release said.
No attorneys were listed in court documents for either officer.
Prosecutors also allege that circumstances around a September 27, 2014, arrest of a 41-year-old man on the west side for carrying a concealed weapon were “fabricated”.
“It tarnishes the badge”, Craig said of the allegations.
Details about the charges were not released, but prosecutors say the officers are charged in “multiple cases”.
Erika Erickson is in the courtroom as the charges against the two are announced.

Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, called the allegations “the most unfortunate thing we can imagine”, but he predicted the officers ultimately would prevail against the accusations.
