Detroit police seeking group of men suspected of robbing couples, gang-raping

Sketches provided by the Detroit Police Department show suspects who allegedly robbed young couples in separate attacks in Detroit on Thursday and gang-raped the women while forcing their male victims to watch. Police have yet to make an arrest in either case, reports said Sunday. In that incident, a woman, 18, was robbed and raped while her 21-year-old male companion was forced to watch. In both cases, the gang approached the couples when they were outside for a walk. Detroit Police Chief Charles Fitzgerald called the attacks “horrifying” and told media persons that the male victims of the attack were ” forced to watch the female victim get sexually assaulted”.

The pair had been walking together when they encountered the suspects at about 10 p.m.in the 13000 block of West McNichols Road, according to authorities. “Their clothes were taken”, Police Sgt. Cassandra Lewis explained.

Four men ordered them to the ground and then took took turns sexually assaulting the woman, forcing her boyfriend to watch, WWJ reported. Fitzgerald said the man was robbed and the clothing of both victims also was taken.

The victims were a 19-year-old woman and 21-year-old man. Both sexual assaults bear striking similarities to a prior encounter on July 11 that left a woman raped and a man robbed. Police have launched sketches of three suspects, one in every of whom is believed to have been concerned in each assaults. They haven’t definitively connected it with the others.
