Detroit Tigers acquire LHP Randy Wolf from Toronto Blue Jays

To make room on the 40-man roster for Saturday’s starting pitcher Randy Wolf, the Tigers released first baseman Marc Krauss, who was playing in Toledo. With those two sidelined and the Tigers hoping to limit rookie Matt Boyd’s innings, Wolf will likely get ample opportunities to prove that he belongs in the majors.

Wolf hasn’t started at the major league level since previous year but he’s putting up a solid season at the Triple-A level.

Norris said he had been given a timeline of three to six weeks, the latter end of which would put his return for the final week of the regular season.

On Thursday after announcing that Anibal Sanchez and Daniel Norris had been placed on the 15-day disabled list, the Detroit Tigers acquired left-handed starter Randy Wolf from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.

“They’re great kids”, Wolf said.

He stuck it out, and had the surgery, grinding through the rehab, then grinding through trying to get a full-time gig in the big leagues again.

The frustration could’ve come last offseason when nobody really wanted to take much of a look at a veteran left-hander. He’s probably the first teammate I will manage.

“First and foremost, the Blue Jays were really the only team that kind of gave me any kind of opportunity. “This could be a blessing in disguise in some way, and I’m just going to be patient with it and do everything I can to stay healthy from this point on”. “I know I’ve been throwing the ball well here. I’ll say ‘Don’t mess this up, ‘” Wolf said.

Ausmus was asked why Farmer’s stuff hasn’t translated well to the big leagues.
