Detroit Tigers acquire outfielder Cameron Maybin in exchange for Ian Krol
For Maybin, it will be his third team in less than a calendar year, having been traded from the San Diego Padres in April as a part of the deal that sent Craig Kimbrel to the Padres.

Maybin was taken by the Tigers with the No. 10 pick in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft, and debuted in 2007 with Detroit, playing 24 games.
On Friday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers made the move to acquire outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for pitchers Ian Krol and Gabe Speier.
“Cameron Maybin is a good outfielder with plenty of experience in center field”, Avila said in a statement. “Brad Ausmus and the coaching staff will determine Cameron’s role during spring training”. He also had 10 home runs and 23 stolen bases in his healthiest and most productive season since 2012 with the Padres.
Already this offseason, the Braves have shipped out shortstop Andrelton Simmons, re-signed catcher A.J. Pierzynski, and entertained trade possibilities for pitcher Shelby Miller and first baseman Freddie Freeman. He is entering the final year of his contract where he will be making about $8 million, but he has a team option next season worth about $9 million with a $1 million buyout. Pair that with Wednesdays acquisition of Francisco Rodriguez, and the Tigers may have filled their closer and left field holes for a total of $12 million next season.
Krol, 24, split time in 2015 between Detroit and Triple A Toledo. The 24-year-old Krol worked to a 5.79 ERA over 33 games last season, all out of the bullpen.
Speier was the third player acquired in the deal that sent Rick Porcello to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Yoenis Cespedes.

Speier, 20, was 4-2 with a 2.86 ERA for Class-A West MI, with 36 strikeouts in 44 innings.
