Developer Shuts Down In China, National Basketball Association 2k

Ultimately, this probably doesn’t mean too much for those of us in the Western world, as we probably never would have seen Borderlands Online anyway, but it is sad that Take-two is closing down its global studios, and may indicate that things aren’t going so well for them.

Gearbox Software and 2K China had previously announced their plans of creating an online video game iteration based on the hit action role playing first person shooter, “Borderlands”, which they had dubbed as “Borderlands Online”. In a statement by the company’s spokesperson, he said, “At this time, we can confirm that we are closing 2K China”.

The 2K China studio was based in Shanghai, with offices in Shanghai.

Take-two has shuttered another global 2K studio, cancelling the in-development Borderlands Online. Unfortunately for those looking forward to the game, Borderlands Online has been cancelled. “The costs associated with the closure will not materially impact the company’s financial results”, reports the same news portal. This decision does not affect our team behind National Basketball Association 2K Online, which has been and continues to be highly successful for our company.
