Developers are already working on Project Scorpio, confirmed by Phil Spencer

The newly-released Microsoft Xbox One S console is comparatively slimmer that the Xbox One console; and it has the capability to upscale game content to 4K. The new console, however, is expected to be available in the market by the end of 2017.

It’s 40 per cent smaller – which is a feat considering it also does away with the bulky external power supply – and so far mine has remained as silent and cool as its predecessor.

“Microsoft has slightly redesigned its controller too”.

It’s not quite the rubberised comfort of Microsoft’s Elite controller, but it’s an improvement over the old standard. “But I don’t want somebody to come in and just think ‘I’m going to go do a special game on one platform and then I’ll get to Xbox whenever I get to it, ‘ because I don’t think that’s right”, Spencer told Gamespot in 2014. While Kinect has fallen out of favour, many existing Xbox One users still use it, mostly using voice commands to control their TVs and quickly log in to play. The console can also play 4K video like Ultra HD Blu-ray films.

Microsoft officially unveiled the Xbox One S last week with the most expensive 2 TB version now up for grabs. That got Microsoft a little rialed up, because a lot of people owning a Xbox console was a little disappointed with the results.

If you already have and Xbox One however, it’s a bit tougher to recommend an upgrade.

The biggest problem comes from Microsoft’s future plans: with its much, more powerful Project Scorpio coming next year, this in-between console doesn’t make a very good case for itself – other than being pretty.

Despite the doubts on Xbox One S’ success from purchasers, the new console made a hit on auction sites such as eBay with leading prices.
