This latest explosion is the second in New Jersey, including an explosion that happened during a 5-K race in Seaside Heights Saturday morning.

Two bar patrons found the bag containing the devices in a trash can near train tracks.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, whose last known residence is in Elizabeth, was wanted for questioning in connection to the Chelsea and Seaside Park incidents, according to multiple agencies.

In the Midwest, an assailant reported to be a 22-year-old Somali-American college student went on a stabbing spree in a shopping mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota, injuring nine people before being shot dead by an off-duty police officer. Port Authority Trans-Hudson trains, ferries and buses are honoring those rail tickets.

The Chelsea bomb contained a residue of Tannerite, an explosive often used for target practice that can be picked up in many sporting goods stores, law enforcement officials said.

“.they saw that there were some wires attached to some pipe, dropped it then they walked over to police headquarters, reported what they found. Police came over, looked at it and called the Union County bomb squad”.

Ahmad Khan Rahami of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was captured after firing at police officers in Linden, New Jersey, about 20 miles (32 km) outside New York, Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage said. But he said there was no specific and credible terror threat against New York City.

Amtrak has issued a statement early Monday morning that all passengers are safe, all trains had been brought into stations and passengers are disembarking and may seek alternate transportation. “There are no injuries & law enforcement personnel are at the scene processing evidence”, according to a tweet from FBI Newark account.

Bollwage told reporters the explosives were found not far from a pub near the transit station.

The mayor also said the remaining devices inside the package were believed to still be live bombs, but that the FBI bomb squad stayed at the scene and continued their investigation.

Investigators are examining a suspicious device found in a trash can near a New Jersey train station, and service on the busy Northeast Corridor line has been suspended.

The news of the suspicious bag at the Elizabeth station was first reported late Sunday, around the same time that the Federal Bureau of Investigation said it had taken five people into custody for questioning in connection with Saturday’s bombing in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood after a traffic stop on the Verrazano Bridge.
