Devils sweep Blackhawks, 3-2

Devils goaltender Cory Schneider appeared ready for all of it. He stopped 27 of 29 shots, extending his streak to six consecutive games of limiting opponents to two goals or fewer. “They have success with it, so we have to come out here and outwork them and be prepared for a good Devils team”. Including a goal in four straight games, Kane has 17 points (7g, 10a) during his current 10-game scoring streak – the longest point streak in the National Hockey League this season.

“Letting them score late in the game like that, it’s not acceptable”. They didn’t have a shot on goal for the first nine minutes of the first period, and had just one shot on goal for the first 11 minutes of the second period.

Henrique and Palmieri connected in the second to give the Devils a 2-1 lead.

Kalinin scored on a rebound that put New Jersey ahead with 2:27 remaining in the third period.

Crawford stretched to his left to make a glove save on Kalinin’s quick shot from high in the slot, but couldn’t handle the puck or recover in time to stop Palmieri after Chicago veteran defenseman Brent Seabrook and rookie Viktor Svedberg got crossed up on coverage.

Panarin tied it with his third goal in two games moments after Crawford made a point-blank pad save on Mike Cammalleri.

WILD 3, HURRICANES 2, OT: In Raleigh, North Carolina, Jason Zucker scored his second goal of the game with 1:10 left in overtime, lifting Minnesota. This past Friday, the Devils easily beat the Blackhawks in New Jersey so that loss should be easy for the Hawks to remember and hopefully motivate them to pick up a win on home ice and pick up 2 points.

Quenneville also credited the Devils defense for decreasing the number of threatening scoring chances for the Hawks – even if it increased the yawn factor inside the United Center. The Chicago Blackhawks made a surprising roster move yesterday when they called up Brandon Mashinter from Rockford. New Jersey RW Jiri Tlusty and D Eric Gelinas were healthy scratches…. Tlusty missed two games at the start of the month with a shoulder injury….
