Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is inching his way back onto the field after suffering a broken foot in Week 1.

“It will do two things: It has the potential to improve the healing time, but more important gives him and everyone more confidence”, Jones said.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Bryant had bone marrow stem cells removed from his hip last week in Colorado and injected into his ankle in hopes of speeding the process of healing from the injury suffered in the season opener on September 13. Once Bryant is at full speed, he immediately joins the WR1 conversation, but there still isn’t any definite time frame for when that will happen.

Where Jones called Bryant “Superman” in discussing his ability to return from injury, Garrett dismissed the idea that Bryant’s toughness will come into play at all in his recovery-which isn’t to say Garrett isn’t optimistic.

Bryant had surgery September 14 which included a bone graft to help fix the fractured fifth metatarsal bone. “We were very disappointed that we tailed-off near the end, but the way Atlanta is playing, we can see that we were up against a few pretty good competition”. They had just one against the Patriots, on a fourth-quarter completion to Cole Beasley for 21 yards.

Although Garrett remains mum on who to assign as the Cowboys quarterback following Week 6, there’s a chance that newly acquired quarterback Matt Cassel may get that role, as he has the respect of the coach, noted the team’s site.

“This game against New England was always going to be a real challenge and really an accomplishment if we could get it done…. I think the other thing that it shows you is, you know, this business of playing it really close in the league in this day and time doesn’t necessarily get the win”.
