Dez Bryant says he ‘can’t wait’ to square off against Josh Norman

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman continues to be a topic of conversation around the National Football League, with the latest edition coming from New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz and cornerback Janoris Jenkins. “You guys could play off of me, but if you don’t know where I am going to align, then these guys really have no clue”. “He made his choice”.

“He didn’t get into fisticuffs with those guys previous year, so it’s going to be different”, Cruz said.

“So it can go both ways, but I think when you’re paying a guy $70 million, there shouldn’t be a game plan”. “The game plan should be: You’re on this guy. That’s what it is”.

It didn’t take long for that scenario to be put in play as fate placed the NFL’s best receiver on the Redskins’ docket for Week 1. Norman is looking to be a bigger part of the game plan after just two targeted matchups against Antonio Brown in a season-opening loss on Monday night. The second time, Roethlisberger tried to complete a pass to Brown while he was covered by Norman wasn’t until there was just 8:33 left in the game and Norman damn near picked it off.

Safety DeAngelo Hall said that he could have possibly prevented the first touchdown, but he was late getting over to help cover Brown because he was expecting a quarterback sneak. I would’ve been a little more concerned maybe if we got burned or there was some kind of incredible separation.

Barry was asked about his decision not to alter his approach and switch Norman to Brown’s side, or to simply have Norman follow Brown all over the field.

Newsday’s Tom Rock has the quotes from Cruz, who seemed to insinuate that Norman ducked Brown.

Norman told reporters on Wednesday that he focuses on the assignments given to him by his coaches. “You’re by yourself – I hope you do well, sorry you didn’t do well, we’re gonna give you another chance, we don’t want to break your confidence, oops he got you again, yup Ben did it again”.

Some of the league’s best cornerbacks will “travel” during the course of a game – in other words, shift which side of the field they begin plays on, depending on where an opponent’s top receiver lines up. Bryant had just two catches for 28 yards in the game. “You get that kind of trust from the head coach and you usually end up making a lot of plays for them, especially when they put you in the right position to make the play”.

“I didn’t watch it but I heard about it, ” Cruz said.

Breeland, who had a strong summer, was aligned opposite Brown on 12 of the 16 third- or fourth-down situations. “If you’re coming to cover me, that’s easy”.
