Di Maria: I wanted to stay at Real Madrid
Angel di Maria has revealed that he never wanted to leave Real Madrid and join Manchester United last summer.

Di Maria, 27, played an integral role for Madrid in their 2013-14 Champions League triumph, but left Los Blancos that summer for United in a British-record £59.7 million deal despite heavy interest from PSG.
Asked whether he stood by his farewell letter to Madrid, Di Maria told Marca: “It wasn’t about hard feelings, I wrote it to clarify all the things being said about me that were complete lies”.
“These are things that representatives deal with”.
“These things happen in football”.
On his nightmare spell at United, he added: “I started very well, but then I had problems with people at the club, I started being left on the bench, then my home was robbed”.
Despite his move to France, Di Maria still has affection for Real. “In summer, I had the opportunity again and I could not say no”.
Part of the problem Di Maria had at United was a failure to adapt to the team due to being deployed in numerous different positions.
He wrote a farewell letter to the Real Madrid fans after he joined Manchester United, explaining the circumstances leading to his exit and insisted that he still stand by the words he used to describe his departure from the Bernabeu.
The former Benfica midfielder has made a decent start to life in Ligue 1, but he will be under pressure to perform for his new side when they travel to Spanish capital to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League next week, which will be the first time Di Maria will have returned to the Bernabeu since leaving.

Their recent Champions League match against Madrid saw the French champions barely cling on to a 0-0 draw at home, but Di Maria is confident an improved PSG can start on the road to glory on Tuesday. Players want the trophy and the club wants the trophy.
