DiCaprio’s my bet for best-actor Oscar, says Eddie Redmayne
Though before Oscars 2016, there have been five major Academy Award controversies, which shook the world but racism debate is the most relevant one in current scenario. Two percent of the Academy’s 6,261 voting members are black. It won the Golden Globe for best drama, the BAFTA for best film and the Directors Guild honor.

“The Big Short” is a film adaptation of Michael Lewis’ book of the same name. That little statuette, valued anywhere from $500 to $900 depending on the price of gold, won’t fetch you anything on the open market (all winners are contractually required to offer it first to the Academy for $1), but it can be a significant career booster if the circumstances are right.
Asked if he thought his fellow best actor nominee was on track to take home the trophy on Sunday night’s show, Redmayne, 34, seemed confident it would be The Revenant star’s year. Pay-TV subscribers in Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco are all eligible to watch the show through an Internet connection.
This year’s host, Chris Rock, also previewed a night of mockery, which Oscars producer Reginald Hudlin said he was “excited about” because, “They (the Academy) know that’s what the public wants, and we deliver what the people want”.

Three of the eight nominated films have raked in more than $100 million at the box office.
The Best Actress race has previous winners Cate Blanchett for “Carol” and Jennifer Lawrence for “Joy” going up against Saiorse Ronan for “Brooklyn”, and first time nominees Charlotte Rampling for “45 years” and Brie Larson for “Room”. Honestly, I didn’t notice the lack of nominations until people started talking about it. Says Paloma Rao, VJ.

Moreover, the best director award has been fought between “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “The Revenant” directors George Miller and Alejandro G. Iñárritu, respectively. For one, Leonardo DiCaprio may finally get his Oscar for his role in The Revenant.
