MORE: Oscars 2016: Here are all of this year’s nominations…

With among the very private personal lives in Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio is staying tight lipped about his off-screen matters.
The film, a violent tale of survival against all odds – and a 156-minute movie that includes not one single significant speaking part for a female character – was directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. “I think this could be Leo’s year to win, I hope so, I think he did a brilliant job”, said Inarritu, who was effusive about his lead.
According to Wells, as well as other professional Oscar prognosticators, the newsroom drama Spotlight was the consensus favorite to take the Best Picture prize for its powerful portrayal of how a group of investigative reporters uncovered a child abuse scandal inside the Catholic church. But who knows? The Amal to Leo’s George could be right around the corner ready to tame his wild ways and replace that eventual Oscar (he has to win for The Revenant, right?!) as his most treasured relationship.
“I believe it is stupid, and that I believe the girls I Have talked to actually loved the film”, he said in defense.
His passion for the environment was one of the reasons he agreed to star as real-life wilderness man Hugh Glass in The Revenant, a role which landed him a Best Actor Golden Globe on Sunday (10Jan16), and he previously revealed he experienced the effects of global warming firsthand while on the snowbound, wintery shoot in Canada and Argentina. He’s also at the ideal age as an actor, he has all the talent, all the sensitivity. The 88th Annual Academy Awards may be the place the star of “The Revenant”, Leonardo DiCaprio, could earn his first Oscar.
Tim Gray, the awards editor for industry magazine Variety, said while he felt the nominations were “a good list”, he lamented some snubs, including for black actor Will Smith in National Football League drama “Concussion”.
The film has already won three Golden Globes, and is nominated for BAFTA Film Awards in eight categories – including best actor, where DiCaprio will face competition from Eddie Redmayne, Michael Fassbender, Matt Damon and Bryan Cranston.

But all of the smart Oscar predictions see 2016 as the year of Leonardo DiCaprio, thanks to The Revenant.
