Dick Vermeil, big fan of Chip Kelly, shocked Eagles dumped coach
I just think that he didn’t have a good way to go about it, and sometimes it came off a little bit standoffish toward y’all.

Lurie, at Wednesday’s press conference in the wake of firing Chip Kelly, said Howie Roseman will remain the vice president of football operations and would oversee all personnel matters.
“You’ve got to open your heart to players and everybody you want to achieve peak performance”, Eagles owner Jeff Lurie maintains.
Lurie said he will consider both pro and college candidates, as well as retired coaches, which could mean that the Eagles are going to make a run at Jon Gruden.
Bill Belichick didn’t hide his feelings when asked about coaching changes that are handed down across the National Football League at this time of year. The Eagles will close out the regular season Sunday against the NY Giants. “I believe so. Yes”, Bradford said. “It was surprising because I thought we were on the verge of something that could be very, very special, but it wasn’t where you could count on it based on the preseason”. However, going forward I think a much more collaborative approach between player personnel and coaching is the way to go.
Kelly has flirted with the National Football League before, interviewing for the Philadelphia Eagles job that went to Chip Kelly in 2013, but indicated he wouldn’t do that again unless he was offered the universal power he now has at Notre Dame.
“I’ve have a hard time coaching a Pop Warner team today”, he said with a laugh. “I just think there was some difficulties with him coming out and saying what he needed to say”. He said he met with players as a group on Wednesday and had smaller meetings planned with them later in the day. In his first season with the Eagles, Kelly had the fourth-ranked offense and led the team to the playoffs.
“It’s not something you are sitting at home thinking about”, Barwin said.

“I am deeply grateful to Jeffrey Lurie for allowing me to coach his Philadelphia Eagles for the past three seasons”. Nick Foles ended up benched in St. Louis, and LeSean McCoy had a down year in Buffalo, but DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin played key roles on playoff teams. “To a certain degree, you’ve got to mourn for a day or two and then kind of get over it and try to win a ballgame”. On the plane back from Providence, reports leaked that DeMarco Murray had a discussion with Lurie. Lurie was concerned by Kelly’s inability – or unwillingness – to connect with his players, and the lack of productivity by numerous players Kelly acquired in the offseason after he was given complete control over personnel.
