Houston got its ninth walk-off win this season – with Correa driving in the winning run for the fifth time – and 14th overall with its last at-bat.

“I saw the guys start to motion him out”, Astros manager A.J. Hinch said of McCullers. It’s something that I’ve always tried to take a lot of pride in too but the way that he goes about his business when he does it every single ball that he takes has a goal. He’s not trying to yank into the Crawford Boxes. Some of the appeal the Liriano held for the Jays as they weighed all the evidence before trading for him Monday, is the reunion he will have with catcher Russell Martin, who was able to draw the best out of the lefty when they were together in Pittsburgh. “I’ve been playing behind Feldman a lot and obviously in order to make plays for your pitchers you’ve got to know what they throw and how they throw it and what you as a hitter should do with it”, Correa said.

“I didn’t go into the game thinking, ‘God, I need to throw a complete game.’ I just wanted to compete hard and one inning at a time”, he said afterward.

Toronto general manager Ross Atkins said, “We feel like. transitioning him to a relief role will be the best thing for us being in a Game 7 of the World Series”.

Houston’s SP Doug Fister pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8.

“I tried to stay focused on my game plan and making my game plan work for me and attacking those hitters”, Devenski said.

In a combined 53 1/3 innings Barnes has posted a 0.84 ERA, a 0.506 WHIP and 61 strikeouts to only five walks.
