Speaking to FightHype, Mayweather said: “You know, I can easily put a halt on that fight if I chose to call Mr. Garcia, [Danny] Garcia’s dad, if I chose to call him and say, ‘You know what, sir, you’re a hell of a trainer, you’re son’s a hell of a fighter, he’s an undefeated champion, I’m an undefeated champion, and I think it would be great for me and your son both to make a lot of money”. The Bolton-born fighter has already made the bold claim that his showdown with the 25-year-old Mexican is getting more attention than Mayweather’s long-awaited meeting with Manny Pacquiao did in May 2015, adding his title match will be the biggest fight of the year. But I don’t want boxing to retire me.

Mayweather is confident that Garcia, who knocked out Khan in July 2012 can deliver the goods with him to dominate the Canelo-Khan PPV numbers.
“We thought we got very close to making that fight happen”, Khan said, in an interview with TMZ Sports.
Per ESPN’s Dan Rafael, Berto did “absolutely nothing to earn the fight” and had lost three of his six bouts prior to facing Mayweather. Cotto and Canelo have both fought at a catchweight with the belt, and, while Golovkin has recently relented in his request to fight Canelo at 160 pounds, not 155, I can’t imagine he’d be thrilled to have a third consecutive, lineal middleweight champion fighting below the 160-pound limit.
“No one in my division wanted to fight me”, Khan said.
Two-time former world champion Khan may be enjoying a spot of golf in the sun at the moment, but soon his attentions will turn fully to his upcoming Las Vegas bout.
The Canelo fight is going to be Khan’s chance to show how much better he is than he was earlier in his career.
I didn’t go into the sport really focusing on breaking records, I got into the sport to display my skills. He won’t be able to handle Khan’s hand speed, movement and sharp punches. Canelo doesn’t have the kind of talent needed for him to assume that he can beat any quality fighter. We’ve also seen Canelo lose to Floyd Mayweather Jr. We’ve seen Canelo struggle against guys like Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara in the past.
The same fate could have easily befallen a Mayweather-Khan or Mayweather-Thurman clash given how clinical, yet uninspiring, Money’s style was.

But Khan’s reputation needed resuscitation, and when the Brit subsequently rose to the occasion by collecting wins against the likes of Luis Collazo, Devon Alexander and Chris AlgierI, his efforts were too little, too late.
