Did Gabriel Ynoa do enough to earn another start for the Mets?
In yet another surprising September turn, Gabriel Ynoa struck out eight over 4 2/3 innings, Jerry Blevins fanned Brian Dozier to complete a four-out save and NY completed a three-game sweep of the woeful Minnesota Twins with a 3-2 victory Sunday.

Mets: RHP Jacob deGrom (right forearm soreness) is scheduled to start Sunday and will be limited to 75 pitches in his first appearance since September 1. The news seemed to hang over them as they couldn’t mount anything against Twins starter Ervin Santana.
After Byron Buxton belted a leadoff home run off Hansel Robles in the top of the 11th inning to give the Twins a 2-1 advantage, Granderson began the bottom of the frame by lining an 0-1 pitch from Brandon Kintzler over the wall in left-center field to re-knot the contest.
The Mets left the bases loaded in the seventh.
“Our resiliency is great”.
Mets manager Terry Collins replaced Ynoa with Josh Edgin after Dozier singled with two outs in the fifth, extending his hitting streak to a career-high 22 games. He won the game with a homer in the 12th.
“My next wish”, Collins said, “is Jay Bruce hits one in the seats and wins a game for us”. San Francisco lost to St. Louis, which is now two games back of a wild-card spot.
The New York Mets are the second hottest team in the National League right now, winning in seven of their last 10 games.
The 12th inning walkoff blast represented the Mets’ 201st homerun of the season, breaking a team record that had been previously set in 2006. They rank second in the NL in homers this season, but it comes with a peculiar caveat: they are 13th of 15 in runs scored.
“We made a statement about three weeks ago that we’ve just got to take care of our business”. He has hit 28 home runs but somehow has only 51 RBIs.
“I’m hopeful that we have positive discussions here”, he said Sunday. When you are called upon and it’s your chance to get in the lineup, make the most of it. “I just kind of walked out of the bullpen kind of not feeling like I like to feel”.
“I’m a veteran, it’s a game and I’m happy to be out there”, Colon said.
Granderson is still hitting a horrid.221, but he is in sort of a tear.
In Chicago, Ryan Braun went deep twice to reach 30 homers for the sixth time, Chris Carter hit a grand slam off the Wrigley Field video board and Milwaukee routed the NL Central champions.
“Hopefully he continues to pitch like that because we’re going to need him”, Reyes said. “I think our coaching staff keeps them pretty positive. He’s our guy. And I just thought it was important to stick with him”. Conforto came up with the bases loaded and none out in the first and laced an opposite-field single for a 2-0 lead. The Twins are on track for the franchise’s worst record since the 1949 Washington Senators went 50-104. Before the game, Collins said they had not yet decided what they will do with Jacob deGrom’s spot now that he is done for the season.

If Cespedes has to miss any time due to whatever caused his nausea/dizziness issue, the Mets really should turn to Michael Conforto, who had two hits on Sunday and has by far the highest upside of any of the other outfielders on the bench. Lugo threw five innings of one-run ball when Saturday’s 4 hour, 15 minute marathon started.
