Did Jared Fogle’s Lawyers Blame His Subway Weight Loss For His Pedophilia?

Fogle had no visible reaction when the sentence was announced Thursday afternoon. Fogle’s wife had left him and immediately filed for divorce in order to protect their children. Fogle blew kisses to relatives as he was led away.

Hours before the sentencing, Fogle, 38, formally pleaded guilty to one count of distributing and receiving child pornography and one count of traveling across state lines to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.

Authorities searched Fogle’s IN home IN July, two months after the executive director of his foundation, which ran programs to raise awareness of childhood obesity, was arrested on federal child pornography charges.

Fogle could have stopped Taylor from victimising a few of minors, prosecutors have said, but he instead encouraged Taylor to produce additional material. He’ll be required to pay restitution of $1.4 million, or $100,000 per victim, and may face up to 20 years in prison.

The immediate fate of once-popular fast food spokesman Jared Fogle is now finally set in the aftermath of his sentencing hearing in an Indianapolis federal court Thursday. As part of his plea deal, that’s three more years than prosecutors had been seeking and over eight more than the five that Fogle’s lawyers had been asking for.

A psychiatrist who analyzed Jared Fogle says he concluded that the former Subway pitchman suffers from hypersexuality, mild pedophilia, and alcohol abuse and dependency.

Before the sentence, a forensic psychiatrist, Dr. John Bradford, argued that Fogle’s struggle with compulsive eating and drastic weight loss on the Subway diet made him hypersexual. He said Fogle also told him that he had “a fairly extensive history” of using prostitutes for sex.

“For most of my adult life, I’ve been in the spotlight, trying to be a role model”, a teary Fogle told the courtroom. Jared accepted a plea deal in August for possessing and distributing child porn and also admitting to having sex with at least two underage girls.

Before his sentencing, Fogle delivered a statement in which he apologized for his actions, the Star reported.

Seeing as he will be in federal prison, the standard time served will be just more than 13 years, which means he would be a free man in 2029 at 51 years old.

According to court documents, Fogle paid to have sex with minors, contacting prostitutes to facilitate the encounters.

At one point, she asked him how much it would cost, and he responded, “Depends if they can prove their age”.
