“Mayawati is selling tickets [to candidates seeking to contest polls]”.

“If someone comes with 2 crores in the afternoon, she gives him a ticket. She is even worse than…”, Singh had said.

According to Misra, if the BJP were truly sorry, then the party would have issued an apology immediately after the remark became public and ordered an FIR against Singh. “I stand by my statement”.

Maurya demanded that if even a bit of respect for women is left in Mayawati, she should expel Siddiqui from the post of Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council and national general secretary.

Arch rival Samajwadi Party, which can not see eye to eye with the BSP, however, has sided with Mayawati on the issue of women’s dignity and Dalit honour, at least publicly, and said that the former BJP leader would be brought to book. She further said that a case must be registered against the people who are speaking ill about her and her daughter. Before that BJP UP Vice President Dayashankar Singh Fired, who triggered a controversy against BSP Chief Mayawati. He had compared Mayawati to a “prostitute”. BSP has prolonged the agitation and the BJP state Vice president Dayashankar Singh was suspended. “Did anybody ask her why did you say such a thing? But Mayawati ji is still not satisfied, she wants him beheaded”.

As the uproar over the issue continued, the Deputy Chairperson adjourned the Upper House till Thursday. A FIR has been lodged against Singh under the SC/ST act and other sections, police said. “We will drag him to court”, he said outside parliament.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have since conducted several raids for the still elusive BJP functionary.
