‘Die Hard 6’ in the Works, Will Feature Young John McClane
It sounds like this Die Hard movie is actually based on another action project di Bonaventura was developing, with Wiseman having pitched a new Die Hard related angle which he liked. The plan is for Willis to appear in the narrative as a present-day version of McClane. There have been rumors circling about a Die Hard 6 movie for awhile, but it seems to have recently picked up a little more steam.

The film has not been officially titled but it’s unlikely to be called Die Hard 6. Willis isn’t totally locked in yet, but he’s stayed in the loop throughout the whole process so there’s no reason to think he won’t return.
20th Century Fox is in discussions with Len Wiseman to have the Live Free or Die Hard director return to produce and direct a sixth installment in the unstoppable action franchise that would serve as a quasi-prequel for Bruce Willis’ beloved cop character John McClane, an individual familiar with the situations has told TheWrap. A younger actor will play McClane in the 1979 portion of the film, and Willis will appear as McClane in scenes bookending the movie.
The film is still looking to attach a screenwriter, but the story is meant to be a prequel to the action series.
One of the biggest complaints about the Die Hard series is how much it’s digressed from its simple roots. McClane’s early years were also the focus of a Boom! It’s not clear if the Die Hard 6 movie will draw from that material, or whether it’ll be its own thing separate from the comic books. Although it only grossed $67 million domestically, it turned out an impressive $304 million at the worldwide box office.

Thought the terrible fifth instalment had killed off the Die Hard franchise for good? But it still made $300 million, so here we are.
