Diego Costa is a ‘serial cheat’, says ex-Arsenal chairman

Diego Costa’s goal in the 23rd minute lifted Chelsea to a 1-0 win over 10-man Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League showdown at Emirates Stadium.

The 1-0 defeat saw Arsenal slip from first to third this weekend and allowed Leicester to regain a lead which was as unanticipated in August as Chelsea’s freefall.

The Spaniard has come alive again since Jose Mourinho’s dismissal in December and the Blues have not suffered a loss since Guus Hiddink joined them on the bench: three wins and four draws, resulting in 13 points under the Dutchman.

“They are hard games but if we can keep winning our games, we can go back to the top”.

It is highly unlikely that Costa will face any ramifications for his actions, as Chelsea secured three important points in their bid to start moving up the Premier League table. To lose the game the way we did is really frustrating today and hard to accept.

After the game, some of the Chelsea players have taken to social media sites to celebrate the victory with skipper John Terry and attacker Willian both posting photos and messages to their official Instagram accounts.

The home side managed just one shot on target as they failed to score against Chelsea for the sixth successive league match.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez had to make two substitutions in the first half, with the injured pair of Muhamed Besic and Kevin Mirallas now set to miss Wednesday’s League Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City. “We are still a big team and we can win something”.

“This was the real Chelsea, and I believe that we can show again in the future that we deserve to play for this club”, Matic said. Backtracking somewhat, the Frenchman added: “That is part of a striker’s game of course, and Costa is very good at that”.

“In recent games we lost we had really hard decisions against us, against Southampton and (against Chelsea). We tried our best but it couldn’t be done”. And it’s a game in which form well and truly goes out of the window and it’s the performance on the given day that actually matters the most.
