And considering that specialists have bound this tumble by sales departments in the aspartame itself and never to the thought of food regimen soda pop generally, PepsiCo. decided to check out its idea that the aspartame-free weight-reduction plan beverage helps make its Diet Pepsi attain its former recognition.

The rollout will test the theory that the sweetener is to blame for fleeing customers, or if other issues might be at play.

Instead, the new drink, which will be announced on the can with the words “now aspartame free” above the famous logo, will contain a blend of sucralose and acesulfame potassium, often known as Ace-K. The move comes after PepsiCo surveys showed aspartame (aka Equal and NutraSweet) was the top reason cited by consumers for ditching diet soda.

At any rate in the short term, Diet Pepsi deals are prone to see knock from the showcasing push around the new equation, which will incorporate in-store testing and marking down in impending weeks.

Aspartame is a popular sweetener in soft drinks, still in use by products such as Diet Coke, Fanta Zero and Diet Dr. Pepper, but there have been numerous campaigns that link it to grave conditions, such as cancer. Two years back, Coca-Cola even tried advertisements in select daily papers guarding the wellbeing of the sweetener.

“It’s the No. 1 thing that our customers have been calling about”, said Seth Kaufman, a senior vice president at PepsiCo, regarding the switch in sweeteners.

It’s not the first attempt by PepsiCo Inc.to lift flagging sales of Diet Pepsi.

Aspartame-free versions of Caffeine-Free Diet Pepsi and Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi will also be available in the United States. This weekend, for instance, a store in New York City had the old and new versions side by side.

Pepsi Light was the “original” Diet Pepsi that was considered an alternative to regular Cola.
