Launch of DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-4 satellite is targeted for 2:30 p.m. EDT, the opening of a 14-minute window at Vandenberg Air Force Base’s Space Launch Complex-3.
The company rescheduled the launch to 11:30 a.m. September 18. The tiny satellites are to be launched on behalf of the National Reconnaissance Office as part of a rideshare program dubbed ENTERPRISE.
Rocket/Payload: Atlas V 401 flying the WorldView-4 mISSion for customer DigitalGlobe.
The mission will also carry seven US government-owned CubeSats that will be deployed following the WorldView-4 satellite’s separation. The fastest speed of the rocket was estimated to be 17,000 miles per hour during launch, more than seven times faster than the SR-71 Blackbird-the world’s fastest manned aircraft.
UPDATE: United Launch Alliance has announced that the launch of WorldView-4 will slip to NET than Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016.
The ULA Launch Readiness Review was completed today and everything is progressing toward the ULA Atlas V launch tomorrow, Friday, carrying the WorldView-4 spacecraft for DigitalGlobe.
The 30th Space Wing at VAFB is responsible for the launch of the rocket.
