The long-awaited epic is up against Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dilwale” at the box office but has been accused by some protestors in India for distorting historical facts.
Both films were made on a budget exceeding 1 billion rupees. Also with no big release set for Christmas and January 1, both the films will have enough time to prove their mettle.
Alleging that the movie has distorted historical facts of the era of Peshwa rulers, the protesters gathered in front of Citypride cinema in Pune today morning raising slogans, leading to cancellation of the film’s screening by the theatre management.
The Rohit Shetty-directed film, which brings back the iconic pairing of SRK-Kajol after five years, has registered biggest ever opening for any Bollywood film in UAE and is running to packed housed over the weekend, said a release from Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment. SUPER word of mouth translates into SUPER biz. However, Bajirao Mastani is gaining momentum gradually as is opened with Rs. 12.80 crores, it earned Rs. 15.52 crore on its second day.
