Just before 5:00 am Saturday, North Charleston police officers responded to the Waffle House at 6907 Dorchester Road in reference to an armed robbery and shots fired. The customer hasn’t been identified or charged, and police say he had a valid concealed weapons permit, WCSC reports. One employee said, “He saved us, that’s what he did”.

“Ongoing efforts by the Coroner’s Office and North Charleston Police Department to identify the suspect have been unsuccessful”, Johnson said.

The suspect was transported to the hospital, but there is no information on his condition.

He is described as a young male with dark hair, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 105 pounds.

Officers who arrived on scene found the man injured.

North Charleston Police Department Lieutenant Angela Johnson said the matter was still being investigated. His identity has not been released.
