Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson have all praised the new movie and its stars: Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, and Kristen Wiig.

He explains: “I just think it’s just time for women to get to establish themselves in these big leading roles that are three-dimensional, that have foibles and they have vulnerability in a way that women aren’t sometimes allowed to be shown, either they have to be shown as the shrew or they have to be shown as the flawless one, and why do guys get to be fully three-dimensional and women don’t, so whatever it takes to even the playing field, that’s what I’m for”.

“I feel like the part was in [the script] already”, adds Kristen Wiig, “But we changed what was said”.

“I’m happy to say now that the movie is finally screening, people are starting to understand what we were trying to do”. “We knew what we were getting into”. Here’s the thing. Being on camera it’s nice I can say this because I do these print interviews and they always pull one part of my quote out.

“These people were just having my back really”. I’ve said from day one – I get that there is a bunch of people who just are trepidatious, nervous, mad that we’re doing a reboot. “I think numerous people who were complaining were actually lovers of the [original] movie, not haters of women”.

“I thought people would be excited for another “Ghostbusters” because so many people are positive about the franchise”.

While the movie doesn’t open until July 15, fans already got a chance to see the cast battle Slimer in a series of snaps the actresses did with the movie’s official Snapchat filter. This summer, they’re here to save the world!

On the subject of the blowback from the casting decision, Reitman said he “didn’t realize how vicious it could be”. And what a trailer does a lot of times is you’re just the guy sitting at the table next to it going ‘I don’t know, that didn’t seem very amusing.’ It’s not an excuse because there are some trailers that are hilarious.
