Rafael Nadal’s father Toni says there is no timetable for his son’s return, putting his participation at Wimbledon in question.

The Olympics would be particularly big for Nadal, as he was forced to skip the London Olympics with another injury, thus failing to defend the gold medal he won in Beijing. He explained to the packed media room: “When I am coming to Roland Garros, I am coming thinking about winning the tournament”.

Nadal, who is tied for second all-time with 14 Grand Slam titles, had already pulled out of next week’s Wimbledon grass-court warm-up at Queen’s Club.

His agent, in a separate release, added: “Nadal’s left wrist will continue to be immobilised for a maximum of two weeks”.

Rafael Nadal won’t be playing Wimbledon this year, the victim of a wrist injury that also forced him out of the French Open.

There is no doubt Nadal could recover from the wrist injury, but time is ticking for the 30-year-old Mallorcan to regain his old form, especially with the setback bringing him back to square one.

Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, starts on June 27. He said then that he expected to be ready for Wimbledon. Is no chance that I can even practise more today.

“It was much better for me to look forward to the rest of the season – and the rest of my life, really”. At this point, fans can expect two of the best tennis players in the world competing in Church Road.
