Disney alters film release schedule, launch dates set for “Incredibles 2”

Marvel Studios, also under the Disney umbrella with Pixar, announced Thursday that Ant-Man and the Wasp, the sequel to Ant-Man, will be released in July 2018.

As usual, we’d caution that these are the USA dates and that there will likely be shifts for United Kingdom cinemagoers – Marvel films in particular tend to launch a week or so here before opening Stateside, while the animated offerings usually kick off in America and then wait a few weeks or even months before their arrival in Blighty. Cars 3, directed by John Lasseter, will open in theaters on June 16, 2017. Despite that, of the next six Pixar films, four of them will be sequels. No, sorry… Can’t keep that one up.

An untitled live-action Disney fairy tale has placed its marker on December 22, 2017, with another set for November 2, 2018. Disney’s huge (a ‘toon spin on Jack And The Beanstalk) is in March 2018, while Toy Story 4 will be on screens in June of that year.

THE CINEMATIC cupboard is so stocked at Disney that the company is jostling and locking down dates for 19 films through the next five years.

In the Pixar realm, Disney is announcing today that “Cars 3” will open two summers from now, and “The Incredibles 2” will land in 2019. The studio does have two untitled movies scheduled for 2020, though, so it’s possible these will both be original properties.

Pointing to its prowess in the live-fairy action space, Disney, home studio of hits including Maleficent and Cinderella, set three untitled films for release on Nov. 2, 2018, March 29, 2019 and Nov. 8, 2019, respectively.
