Today marks the launch of Disney’s new Netflix-like streaming service, DisneyLife, but fans stateside don’t get to be a part of the fun.

Though a fair chunk of Disney’s movies are already available on multiple streaming platforms like Netflix, the new UK-exclusive service boasts that it will contain “the biggest Disney movie collection in one digital membership”.

For £9.99 per month you’ll gain access to numerous company’s animated classics, such as The Lion King, Aladdin and The Jungle Book, as well as live-action hits such as Mary Poppins and Pirates of the Caribbean. Disney-Pixar collaborations, such as Toy Story and Up, are available as well.

This is all available across desktop and mobile – though you’ll need the free companion app on mobile to take advantage of all the DisneyLife content, which stretches to songs and soundtracks as well as albums from related artists. One thing worth nothing, though: Disney-owned Marvel and Star Wars content isn’t included at this time.

DisneyLife members can create six profiles per subscription and add up to 10 compatible devices.

Disney has now entered the subscription-based streaming services market with the launch of DisneyLife, a Netflix-like service that lets families of up to 6 people stream Disney movies, TV shows and even music, audiobooks and e-books online, to their mobile devices, or to TVs via Apple’s AirPlay or Google Chromecast.

Plus, users have the ability to download a free Disney app every month.

Speaking about the new service Paul Brown, general manager, DisneyLife United Kingdom, said: “Our team has worked tirelessly to create a personal, intuitive and unique experience for the whole family”. Parents can set profile-specific time limits for weekends and weekdays, and download anything that they might want on holiday. However, the service is available now in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, hinting at its plans to soon arrive outside the United Kingdom market, as previously promised.
