The body of the child who went missing after being dragged underwater by an alligator at a Disney Resort has been found.

The boy reportedly died of drowning and traumatic injuries inflicted by the alligator, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office said on Thursday.

A gator described as being as long as 7 feet snatched 2-year-old Lane Graves as he waded in the shallow water there around nightfall Tuesday.

All of the beaches at the Disney location remained closed following the tragic event.

Walt Disney World officials closed beaches along the man-made lagoon after the incident and said they would be reviewing protocols.

A New Hampshire man recalled being attacked by an alligator at the nearby Fort Wilderness campground 30 years ago when he was a boy.

The gator responsible might be dead – but authorities aren’t sure.

Authorities said the father and mother both tried to wrestle the child from the gator, but it was too late. One method will be to compare bite marks to the teeth of the gators. Though search operations are on through the day, they are especially vigilant at night when alligators are more active because of cooler temperatures and less human activity.

The commission’s executive director, Nick Wiley, has said there is a good chance they have already captured the alligator in question.

Spokeswoman Tammy Sapp said the investigation was ongoing as of Thursday afternoon.

According to Daily Mail, Venditti said there are “no swimming” signs in the area around the Disney resort.

“We continue to evaluate processes and procedures for our entire property, and, as part of this, we are reinforcing training with our cast for reporting sightings and interactions with wildlife and are expanding our communication to guests on this topic”, Wahler said in the statement. “Our thoughts are with the family”.

Trappers killed and opened up five alligators on Wednesday for sign of the boy before his body was recovered.

Officials said that Graves suffered a few puncture wounds, so he likely drowned.

According to AOL, the alligator pulled him into a lagoon.

The boy’s parents, Matt and Melissa Graves of Elkhorn, Nebraska, issued a statement on Thursday. “We understand the public’s interest, but as we move forward this weekend, we ask for and appreciate the privacy we need to lay our son to rest”.
