Disney To Open ‘Star Wars’ Theme Parks

The Verge reports that Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced his company is creating two Star Wars-themed exhibits at both Disneyland in Anaheim and Disney World in Florida. The said attractions will be featured in several branches including Anaheim, California, as well as Orlando, Florida.

While we’re obviously hoping for some new, less-sucky Star Wars films starting with The Force Awakens this winter, the real reason we all got excited for Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm is finally happening: Disney is building a Star Wars theme park. We will do this by directing something George Lucas imparted in each one of us: “unlimited imagination, unadulterated creation and trust”.

Disney has also recently announced that it is to spend $5.5bn creating a new theme park in Shanghai, China, next year. Fans say that now that the film is set to come out, the tie-up to the Disney World expansion is a good decision for the company. Another attraction will drop guests into “a climactic battle between the First Order and the resistance”. These new attractions will deliver a different kind of experience for the guests and enthusiasts of the movie. “Nothing in the land will be out of character or stray from the [Star Wars] mythology”.

While there is no definite time frame on when the two Star Wars attractions will open, current visitors will already have a glimpse into the rides that may be offered.
