Disney to release ‘The Jungle Book’ next year

The cast and director of Disney’s live-action Jungle Book appeared at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday to unveil the first trailer for the movie. The new film is directed by original Iron Man director, Jon Favreau. It is based on the book The Jungle Book, written by Rudyard Kipling.

The poster showcases Ben Kingsley’s Bagheera staring at Mowgli, played by Neel Sethi.

Lively also said that narrative changes will be coming to the Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Cruise ride to support the new restaurant.

Scarlett Johansson (who voices the python Kaa) describes the dichotomy between man and beast, poetically talking about the red flower, which is a metaphor for fire. He praised the young child actor and star of the film and said “he is so pure and working with a child actor teaches you so much”. “We don’t take this responsibility lightly”. Call me Louie.” It wrapped up with shots of apes swinging through trees, Mowgli climbing up a rock face, and concluded with the line, “There are many tales told in the jungle, but none so odd as the tale of Mowgli.” When it comes to crafting live-action adaptations of animated classics, Disney has already had great success in the past couple years with both Robert Strombergs Maleficent and Kenneth Branaghs Cinderella – and it looks like the studio will be able to continue that impressive stretch with the release of The Jungle Book next year. It was moody, atmospheric stuff, a lot darker than most of the ‘toon version, but still with room for warmth and humour, particularly when Baloo breaks out a gentle, humming version of The Bear Necessities.
