Disneyland to close certain attractions during ‘Star Wars’ Land construction

Disneyland will be closing several popular rides and attractions around the park as resort officials prepare to build the new Star Wars land slated to open sometime in 2017. That is going to take a lot more time and won’t even begin until next year.

A date to reopen the attractions has not been set.

However, there is some awful news for those who get their barbecue fix next to people in costume: “Elsewhere in Frontierland, Big Thunder Ranch – including Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Farm and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree – will close permanently at the end of the operating day on January 10″.

The yearlong construction of the 14-acre Star Wars land planned to feature two major rides is part of a $1 billion investment agreement with the city of Anaheim that will also continue a ban on a Disneyland gate tax for the next 30 years.

This is just a sort of teaser of what Disney has planned for its Star Wars themed lands, where everything and everyone will be in character and is promised to give visitors an authentic Star Wars experience. “These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle”.

The employees in the affected areas are said to still have jobs but in other areas in the park.

Okay, so clearly our Wookiee needs some brushing up, but we wanted to express what “Star Wars” fans must be feeling upon hearing that a new experience is headed for Disneyland Resort starting on Monday, November 16. Fans can take photos during meet-and-greets with Darth Vader and Chewbacca.

Pictured in a scene from the attraction, “Star Wars“, villain Darth… The Dark Side Gallery will showcase stormtrooper armor and Sith lightsabers, while the Light Side Gallery will feature Rebel flight helmets and the lightsabers of Jedi Knights. I had been told that a Star Wars: The Force Awakens preview would run in the space – either that has been scrapped or will be added at a later time closer to the December release of Episode VII. You’ll be able to watch Star Wars flicks; Space Mountain will become Hyperspace Mountain; and Star Tours will include clips from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
