The council, in a town of 800 people about 100 miles southwest of Indianapolis, voted to replace Cullison with a new marshal, Daryl McCullough.

Probably not the best way to start your new job.

“I think it got a little out of hand”, Roger Thompson said.

After the fight, McCullough was sworn in as the new town marshal. “When they started yelling at what I said and I didn’t say, this other gal started to step in and screaming and yelling and she don’t know nothing and I told her to shut up”. Former marshal Darrick Cullison, the man pictured in the red shirt, said he was “wrongly fired”.

In the video, two men are seen lunging at McCullough and striking him.

Following the scuffle, Cullison set an email to a WTHI reporter that simply read “I’m sorry”.

No arrests were made, but Indiana State Police say the incident is under investigation.

Darrick Cullison has since been fired by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department for his role in the fight.
