Just minutes ago at the Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh, PA, conductor Arnie Roth revealed to the crowd that a “Final Fantasy XII remake” is coming.
While the word that he used here was Remake, it is entirely possible that he is confusing it with a HD Remaster.
Following the success of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD on both PS4 and PS Vita, it looks like Final Fantasy XII is the next “remastered” game Square Enix will release soon. The news comes from Final Fantasy Network which attended the concert and recorded a video when Roth makes the announcement. Prediction: Square denies this is true on Monday, then announces it on Wednesday. That means that aside from updates in the graphics department, the game will also receive new mechanics and features.

Given its unique status as the only Final Fantasy that requires a discontinued console to play, it’s not too unreasonable to believe this is happening. Maybe we will get an official confirmation at the upcoming event.
