A 64-year-old diver who was reported missing while diving near the Andrea Doria wreck off the Massachusetts coast is presumed dead, and the Coast Guard said it has suspended its search.
Diving in the area has resulted in seven deaths and four injuries since 2005, according to the Coast Guard.

According to the Coast Guard, another diver last saw the missing man – whose name has not been released – about 20 feet underwater as the two made their way toward the surface.
It was a hard decision, a top official said.
The John Jack’s website says it visits dozens of shipwrecks suitable for recreational divers, along with deeper sites like the Andrea Doria “that require advanced technical certification”.
“As someone who remembers her dramatic sinking and yearns to keep a piece of that precious time close to heart”, he says, “I can think of no more fitting tribute than beholding the magnificent lady up close and touching her now silent remains, and maybe if lucky and bold enough even bringing back some artifact from her to preserve and display”.
Several Coast Guard ships and helicopters have searched over 159 nautical square miles.

“The ocean is unforgiving”, the statement said.
