Jacob Wetterling went missing 27 years ago in rural Stearns County.

The Twins announced they’ll hold an online auction for 11 of the jerseys, with proceeds going to the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center (JWRC.) The JWRC was founded to educate and assist families and communities in order to address and prevent the exploitation of children.

The Wetterling’s ask if you put on Jacob’s jersey number, make a commitment to living with 11 traits: 1.

At a plea hearing Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, Danny James Heinrich admitted to kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing Jacob Wetterling on October 22, 1989. “We at the Twins are deeply moved by the strength of the Wetterling family and are honored to play a small role in helping them spread their message and further the important work of the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center”. On Thursday, they posted some of the photos they’d received to Facebook.

The JWRC will host a 5-k run on October 22, which is something they planned past year to turn a somber day into something positive.
